This project targeted the restoration of 550.8 hectares of four priority woodland types in Ireland, owned by Coillte. Priority woodland habitats are recognised under the EU Habitats Directive as being critically rare, not just in Ireland, but across Europe.
The restoration was jointly funded by the European Union DG-Environment and Coillte Teoranta (The Irish Forestry Board) under the EU LIFE-Nature Programme and ran from 2006 to 2009.
The 4-year project has concluded.
